Take the xylitol poll

Hi Folks! I want to hear from you.. come over to Facebook and take the poll on whether or not you are still interested in recipes that have xylitol in them, after reading this blog post by Crunchy Betty.  If you don't do Facebook, then please comment here.

UPDATE: Seems to be a BIG difference on brands.  Now I think I know why some people report stomach problems with just a tiny bit of xylitol.  Turns out, cheap brands can do that.  Dragon Herbs Xylitol and The Ultimate Life Sweetener Xylitol are both reported to be high quality birch sugar brands.  Yay!

  1. Yikes! I keep hearing of the digestive issues with xylitol, but it does vary person to person because I don't experience any of it. Mind you, I tend to stick with erythritol and only use xylitol to supplement sometimes. And I do think brands make a difference.

  2. I don't use xylitol at all because I have dogs and I don't want to chance any of them getting sick from snarfing something with this sweetener in it.

  3. Isn't it derived from corn? My son is allergic to corn and I've heard so many bad things about GMO lately that we try to avoid corn as much as possible. Ha! Maybe I'm totally wrong and it has nothing to do with corn...

My 3-year-old son had severe eczema until he was diagnosed with food allergies a few months back. I have a blog that shares our family’s battles with eczema, allergies, and asthma (yes, lucky guy has that too).

I think the key is to learn from one another, so the more information out there to the masses, the better. With this in mind I’ve started a blog hop for anyone dealing with food allergies, eczema, or asthma, either for themselves or as a caregiver. If you’re interested in joining, please add a comment. I’d love to welcome you to the group. http://itchylittleworld.wordpress.com/blog-hop/

    Thanks.

  4. Yes, cheaper xylitol is made from corn, most likely GMO. That is why I have switched to birch xylitol. I'll be posting on that very soon... seems to make a big difference in quality as well as avoiding corn, which I also need to do because it gives me eczema on my hands.

I love to hear from you! Please let me know how you changed a recipe, and how it came out. I don't do nutritional information anymore, sorry! I just provide the *free* recipes. I try to reply to comments but don't have much time these days. I hope to revamp this site eventually.... but for now I am still a working Mom and this is my hobby.
*If you would like to post the carb counts by using an online carb calculator, please go ahead* I don't provide them anymore, it's a miracle if I even get a post up these days! Thanks!
